Luxury Hotels Pick: Grand Hyatt KL
The Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur is the latest 5 star hotel in the city. Located just at the edge of KLCC park, it is just a short stroll away from hot venues such as the Petronas Twin Towers, KL Convention Center and Bukit Bintang. Select rooms have stunning views of the Twin Towers and KLCC park.
Like many hot new hotels around the world, Grand Hyatt chose to have their lobby on the 40th floor of the building. The lobby is airy and spacious with the Twin Towers making a spectacular backdrop. Being less than a year old, everything about the hotel was immaculate. The service from the staff during our stay there were also very warm and enthusiastic.
Mid-range Hotel Pick: Novotel
Located not far from the Grand Hyatt is the Novotel Hotel. Like the Grand Hyatt, the hotel is located within walking distance between KLCC and Bukit Bintang, which are two of the hottest tourist hotspots in the city. There is also a monorail station nearby that would take you to other areas of the city such as Petaling Street (Chinatown) and KL Sentral. It is the perfect pick if you are looking to stay in a hotel that is located right on the pulse of it all.
Budget Hotel Pick: Hotel Sentral
As its name suggest, Hotel Sentral is located near KL Sentral. KL Sentral is the transportation hub of Kuala Lumpur. Think of it as the Grand Central Station of KL. It is a hub for the KLIA Express (airport train), KTM Kommuter trains, inter-city trains, LRT, the monorail and several bus routes.
Hotel Sentral is located just behind the KL Sentral monorail station. The hotel is surrounded by many local food outlets, hawker stalls, and mini marts, which I imagine would be extremely convenient for the average tourist.
The rooms start from just RM100+ per night and are perfectly adequate for this price range. The rooms are clean, well maintained, and comes with free wi-fi. The staff at the hotel are also very friendly and helpful.
